During the peak flu season in winter, how can we prevent it?

Winter is the peak season for influenza outbreaks. As cold air sets in, various illnesses tend to increase, and more and more people catch colds. So, how can we prevent catching a cold? Winter is the peak season for influenza outbreaks. As cold air sets in, various illnesses tend to increase, and more and more people catch colds. So, how can we prevent catching a cold? 1. Stay Warm and Protect Against the Cold In winter, the weather is unpredictable, with frequent cold waves. Therefore, it’s important to take timely measures to stay warm and protect against the cold according to the weather conditions—such as adding clothes and bedding promptly—to avoid getting chilled and triggering illness. Since the feet are relatively far from the heart and blood circulation there tends to be less efficient, special attention should be paid to keeping your feet warm. 2. Maintain a Balanced Diet Strengthen your nutrition, get adequate rest, and maintain a scientifically sound lifestyle. Ensure sufficient intake of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Eat more red-colored foods, such as carrots, red peppers, and tomatoes—these are rich in beta-carotene, which can neutralize oxygen free radicals and boost macrophage activity, making them highly effective in preventing and treating influenza. Rinsing your mouth daily with a mild saltwater solution or black tea can also provide some protection against influenza. 3. Stick to Regular Exercise Increase physical activity and spend more time outdoors. Each day, engage in moderate-intensity exercises such as walking, cycling, jogging, or practicing Tai Chi to enhance your body’s resistance. Make it a habit to wash your face with cool water—it helps improve your body’s ability to adapt to temperature changes. 4. Keep Your Living Space Well-Ventilated Ensure that the air inside your home remains fresh and well-circulated. In addition to regular ventilation, you can use vinegar for enclosed-space fumigation every day. Walls, floors, and household items can be wiped down with a 0.5% solution of bleaching powder. Since the survival of the influenza virus is also influenced by... 5. Avoid Mutual Infection During flu epidemics, try to minimize or avoid attending large gatherings and group activities, and reduce visits to public places. If someone in your household is already infected with the flu, take protective measures: wear a mask when in close contact with the patient. 6. Get Vaccinated According to health authorities’ forecasts, get vaccinated against influenza in a timely manner, especially if you’re elderly or have chronic illnesses. You can also use traditional Chinese medicines such as Radix Isatidis, Dryopteris Crassirhizoma, Folium Isatidis, and Honeysuckle—each 15 grams—prepared by decocting in water (take this remedy for 3–5 consecutive days; reduce the dosage by half for children; pregnant women and nursing mothers should avoid taking it). This has a good preventive effect. Additionally, keep some common cold medications at home.

12th Anniversary Celebration

The 12th Anniversary Celebration On August 28, 2020, Fulekang Pharmaceutical marked the 12th anniversary of its establishment. Time flies by, and as the market economy has continued to develop, Fulekang Pharmaceutical has steadily achieved success and grown stronger step by step. Driven by their spirit of fearlessness in the face of difficulties and their determination to reach new heights, the people of Fulekang are forging ahead toward an even brighter future. To celebrate this unforgettable day, a commendation ceremony was held at 9 a.m. The event began with a brief introduction by the host. Leaders and representatives from both new and veteran employees delivered inspiring speeches that greatly encouraged all the staff. Each year, the company allocates substantial funds to reward colleagues who have demonstrated outstanding performance at work—this is done to recognize excellence and motivate those who are still striving to improve. After lunch, the office had carefully prepared a variety of fun games, allowing employees to fully experience the warmth of our big family while also providing an opportunity for team-building exercises. This scene reminded me of Fu Disheng’s song “Everyone Paddles Together to Sail the Big Boat”: A single chopstick can be easily broken, but ten chopsticks held tightly together form an unbreakable bundle. It is precisely this spirit that our team needs—only by closely relying on the collective can individuals tap into limitless strength. At 5 p.m., the members of Fulekang gathered together for a festive dinner. Friends who loved singing and dancing showcased their talents, adding extra joy to the celebration. Everyone danced gracefully around the bonfire, and as fireworks bloomed silently in the night sky, petals rained down like a shower, seemingly within easy reach. Honors reflect our past achievements, while our commitment to forging ahead points toward the future. The successes Fulekang Pharmaceutical has attained today would not have been possible without the support and assistance from friends and partners across various sectors.

The World Health Organization provides 10 recommendations for individuals to protect themselves against the novel coronavirus.

On February 28, at a regular press conference, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus introduced 10 basic personal preventive measures against the novel coronavirus, including regularly cleaning hands and surfaces of objects, and avoiding travel when experiencing fever or cough. Speaking at the press conference that day, Tedros emphasized, “Stopping the epidemic starts with you.” The WHO provided 10 basic personal preventive measures against the novel coronavirus. First, regularly wash your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizers or with soap and water. Touching your face after your hands have come into contact with contaminated surfaces or patients is one of the ways the virus spreads; therefore, keeping your hands clean can reduce the risk of viral transmission. Second, regularly disinfect surfaces of objects, such as kitchen tables and chairs, office desks, and other frequently touched areas. Third, educate yourself about COVID-19-related knowledge, but make sure the information comes from reliable sources, such as local or national public health agencies, the WHO website, or local healthcare professionals. For most people, the initial symptoms of COVID-19 infection are fever and dry cough, rather than runny nose. Most infected individuals experience mild symptoms and can recover without any special medical care. Fourth, avoid traveling when you have a fever or cough. If you become ill during a flight, immediately notify the cabin crew. Upon returning home, promptly contact medical personnel and inform them of your travel history. Fifth, cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of used tissues immediately in a closed trash bin, then wash your hands. Sixth, individuals aged 60 or older, or those with underlying conditions such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory illness, or diabetes, may be at higher risk of developing severe illness if infected with the novel coronavirus. Such individuals should take extra precautions, such as avoiding crowded places or locations where they might come into contact with sick people. Seventh, if you feel unwell, stay at home and call your doctor or local healthcare provider. They will ask about your symptoms, where you’ve been, and who you’ve been in contact with. This will help you receive appropriate advice or guidance on where to go for medical care, and it can also prevent you from infecting others. Eighth, when you’re sick, stay at home, eat and sleep separately from family members, and use separate utensils. Ninth, if you experience shortness of breath, seek medical attention immediately. Tenth, feeling anxious during an epidemic is normal and understandable—especially if you live in a country or community affected by the outbreak. Learn about the epidemic prevention and control measures in your community, and discuss how to ensure safety at workplaces, schools, and other settings.
